Questions

Who can join the Band Experience?

Learners of different ages and musical backgrounds. Whether you're new to ensemble playing or have played before, there's a place for you. If a programme has entry requirements, we'll explain them when you register.

Do I need previous band experience?

Not necessarily. The Beginner Band is for first-time players; the main band suits learners with some experience. If you're unsure which is right, contact us.

Do I need my own instrument?

Learners are generally expected to have access to an instrument. You can rent one from us for the Beginner Band or for the full year, and our team can advise on buying one.

What if I miss a rehearsal?

Let us know as early as possible, and catch up at an optional make-up session. We encourage learners to attend at least 75% of rehearsals.

Do I need to practise outside rehearsals?

Yes. Regular practice helps you reinforce each rehearsal and come better prepared for the next one.

Will there be performances?

Yes. Performances are a core part of the Band Experience, with three planned in 2027, building to the Year-End Finale Concert. Perform at your own pace: for a stress-free stage, our instructors can play alongside you at some concerts, and for more of a challenge you can perform without them.

What should I bring to rehearsals?

Your instrument in good playing condition, your music, a pencil for marking it, a water bottle, and a positive attitude.

Does my membership renew automatically?

No. Renewals are handled personally by one of our founders, and we only renew after you’ve told us you’d like to continue. Your membership
